You may have read their bios but we feel like it’s about time you REALLY got to know our Driver-Guides.
Sixth in our series is Driver – Guide:
What is your favorite stop when you tour guests around PEI? Why?
My favorite place is the lighthouse in Covehead but you have to go past it and right down to the water. The views are spectacular and the lighthouse makes a perfect back drop for a picture.
How do you make your tours special?
Engage your guests. Make them feel completely comfortable and safe. Ask questions so you can cater their visit to what they like. Also, I believe in “show me, don’t tell me” so lead up to a place or a view, build excitement and anticipation. Use props like Lester (the lobster) and a mussel sock. And don’t forget to have a laugh with them!
When you’re not guiding in the summers where can we find you?
My wife loves her flowers, and I love my wife, so together we work on our flower beds. We have 12 beds and I guess more to come.
Where is your favorite spot to eat on Prince Edward Island? Why?
BLUE MUSSEL! They may have the best seafood chowder I have ever had. My wife Marina also agrees. Service that is second to none, atmosphere that is fun, and a view that is tough to beat. Places like Blue Mussel are why people work 50 weeks of the year to come to PEI for 2 weeks.
Why do you choose to guide with Target Tours Atlantic?
Katie, Jacqueline, Bryanna, Laura, Justin, Lynn and even that confused Boston Bruins fan, John. I have worked with lots of folks over the years but I have never seen an office that is so young, yet so very mature in how they work as a team and they laugh a lot. I never thought this would be so much fun, showing off my Island to guests. I get to see the beauty through their eyes. I love it!
