Perhaps you’ve already met our Tour Assistant Intern but when you make a booking with Target Tours Atlantic for a Private Tour or Scheduled Tour this summer it’s likely you’ll have the pleasure of meeting her. In this post we take a few minutes to get to know the latest addition to our Target Tours Atlantic Team: Bryanna LeClair.
Tell us a little about yourself…
Hello everyone! My name is Bryanna LeClair and I was born and raised in Kensington, PEI. From a very young age, my mother taught me the value of travel and the importance of gaining experiences over possessions. My first travel experience was at the young age of 3 months, when I travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to visit family in England. My childhood is full of exciting memories from the wonderful places I’ve visited. Some of my favourites include: Jamaica, Bermuda, England, New York City, and Spain. I am a UPEI student working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Tourism and Hospitality. Travel has been such a large part of my life, from my personal trips as well as my previous work experience in the PEI tourism industry.
Why did you apply to join the Target Tours Atlantic Team?
When I was in high school, I was the president of our Travel and Tourism Certificate Program. As part of the program I had the opportunity to travel to many different places. The highlight of the program was the year we booked a trip to New York City with Target Tours. John (Dunphy, President and Co-Found of Target Tours and Target Tours Atlantic) was our Tour Director, and he made the trip one of my most memorable to date. From that moment, I decided I wanted to have a career in Tourism like John. I started to follow Target Tours on their various social media platforms and when I saw the opportunity to work with Target Tours Atlantic, it was an opportunity I could not pass up.
What are you most looking forward to doing while working with Target Tours Atlantic?
I strongly believe that the most amazing experiences one can gain in life come from travelling and exploring new places. This world is full of adventures waiting to happen, and I am so excited to be able to help create memories for our clients who will be visiting beautiful Prince Edward Island!
Why do you feel travel is important?
How are we supposed to understand the world around us if we do not get there and explore it! We become so accustomed to our daily surroundings that it takes an adventure elsewhere to show us what we have and what we should be thankful for. Travelling is an eye-opening journey that everyone should get the chance to experience.
What is your favorite hidden gem on Prince Edward Island?
My favorite place to take new visitors on PEI to is McCallums Point in Lower Bedeque. It is directly across from the Summerside Harbour and is home to the Indian Head Lighthouse. This rocky beach is one of the best places to find sea glass on PEI and when the tide is out, you can walk across the sandbars all the way out to the lighthouse. Not many people know about this spot since it is only found on the PEI map and not Google Maps.
Fun Facts about Bryanna…
- I was very active throughout my childhood playing various sports such as: soccer, volleyball, figure skating, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, and paddle boarding. My two favourites are snowboarding in the winter and kayaking in the summer!
- I come from a musical family and can play the guitar and the saxophone, but sadly I cannot sing
- For my 19th birthday I was given tickets to a Toronto Raptors NBA game (if you know me you would know that I am the biggest Raptors fan ever)
- Last summer I traveled to Ottawa to visit my best friend Samm. On my trip we drove to Montreal to see Ed Sheeran perform at the Bell Centre (best concert I have ever seen!)
- During the summer months when I’m not at work you can catch me at the beach! (Basin Head is my favourite)
